This week’s #TOBcommunity spotlight is on Yvonne O'Garro (Pronouns: She/Her), a restorative and hatha yoga teacher. Read on to learn more about the important work she does.

What organisation(s) do you run or work for?

Yvonne Henrietta Yoga

How do you / your organisation support and celebrate marginalised people?

As a Black Yoga Teacher, I am passionate about promoting the offerings of BIPOC Yogis/Wellness Space Holders. I do this because I believe it will encourage more BIPOC to participate/increase participation in wellness activities, taking up more space in an industry that does not consistently amplify our presence. I also promote the offerings as a constant reminder of who contributes to the wellness industry, increasing awareness and engagement with BIPOC Yogis & Space Holders.

What can we expect from you in the coming months?

I looking forward to my upcoming CPD course on Yoga Therapy for Anxiety as this will provide me with additional skills to offer greater peace, ease & resilience. I received a BIPOC scholarship from Fierce Calm to attend the Minded Institute course. Thankful.

What’s your secret superpower?

Being able to hear unspoken words. Having worked with people my whole career from Retail Management, HR Business Partner and now, my calling as a Yoga Teacher, I am able to sense what is not being said. This allows me, more often than not, to build deeper relationships.

Favourite quote that sums up your philosophy on life:

"Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better." Dr Maya Angelou

Describe yourself in 3 words:
