Our interactive courses are designed to help people understand and question their own unconscious biases (we all have them!). We use our knowledge and experience to facilitate the difficult conversations people often shy away from at work. And we arm you with simple actions to create a more inclusive culture.

Our Know Your Bias Courses

Whether or not we like to admit it, we all have unconscious biases. They affect our perceptions, our decision-making processes and our workplace cultures. Becoming aware of an unconscious bias is the first step to changing that. And it can ultimately help us all create a more inclusive and productive working culture.

But unfortunately unconscious bias training is fast gaining a reputation as an ineffective, underwhelming snoozefest. Death-by-powerpoint. A box-ticking exercise.

We’re not about that.

We’ve designed a series of thought-provoking, interactive courses where everyone can take away practical tips
to apply straightaway at work.

Don’t just take our word for it though…

We love The Other Box! We collaborated with them for our recent company offsite focused on Diversity & Inclusion, are incredibly grateful for what they taught us and how they
customised their program to us. They became experts in our company, wanting to learn everything from our values set to how we communicate and were able to weave relevant
examples into the day’s activities. We were so impressed by these small touches, and think they had a big impact on our team’s engagement with the material.
Perhaps most importantly, these are warm, empathetic and caring people that we loved working with. We felt like one big team working together on this, not just in terms of the work
itself but also through the emotional support and camaraderie we felt with them. We instantly felt we could trust them with our company’s hardest problems and ‘darkest secrets’, knowing
they help us see our way through them without judgment.

Know Your Bias provided our company with a space to discuss difficult conversations openly and honestly around all aspects of diversity and inclusion. The training was truly intersectional, making sure that a wide range of topics within the diversity movement was covered and it wasn’t simply a discussion about improving the working lives of white, cisgendered women. Leyya and Roshni incorporated a variety of interactive exercises, ensuring that the group stayed engaged throughout. We were positively challenged to think differently and assess how our own social groups may subconsciously affect our thoughts and actions towards, as well as encouraging us to be more actively thoughtful of ways to improve the working lives of everyone who may join our company. We were trusted to discuss everything as a team and the closing exercise has acted as a foundation for further diversity and inclusion work at Permutive. We left the session with practical steps to take to make diversity and inclusion even more of a priority for our business, ensuring that the training was so much more than merely a checkbox exercise.

The training The Other Box delivered was both interesting and insightful. They are such natural speakers and made the whole room feel at ease when talking about, what can be, a sensitive topic. We appreciated the examples and scenarios which were raised; it made everyone in the room relate to the topic and it was refreshing to consider both personal and professional examples.  Attendees left in confidence that they had improved knowledge and understanding of terms relevant to diversity and inclusion. We know that this will empower our staff with the confidence to have open conversations with colleagues around them. The training highlighted to our team how we can improve our existing diversity and inclusion strategy and it was also the perfect environment for cross communication and collaboration of colleagues internally from different departments. We know that moving forward we have a fresh new perspective and innovative ideas when it comes to Diversity and Inclusion. Ultimately we know the training will help us take the next step on our diversity and inclusion journey.

Working with The Other Box gave us a practical and insightful overview into how to incorporate inclusive behaviours in the workplace. Their exercises were effective tools that kick-started difficult conversations within our organisation.

You created an open and constructive environment for us to open up and explore some of the biases. The way you spoke about some of the concepts and ways in which biases and removing them can change mindset was so thought-provoking, surprising and practical. We have never been so engaged in a training session before. Many of the cohort said that it was a real eye-opener to things that they had never even considered before as well as making them think about in intersectionality (yes we picked up some lingo) of these biases and how we shouldn’t just be assuming. It has been the most talked about training we have EVER done! We cannot wait to roll this out further and we are in complete awe of The Other Box and the work that you are doing!

The Other Box creates a safe space for diversity and inclusion topics to come alive through shared discussion. Getting people out of their seats, talking about their own experiences and perceptions in a safe space was really powerful and dare I say it, enjoyable.

The workshop was interesting, innovative and thought provoking. I felt you really opening ways of thinking and I’m very grateful that you both delivered it so succinctly and with such passion. I also especially appreciated your honesty in certain discussions. Being frank isn’t the easiest thing to do, but you helped people relax and not be afraid to admit when they themselves had found themselves sitting in a perspective that isn’t socially acceptable.
Double Negative

Know Your Bias is a powerful introduction to understanding your unconscious biases and how to make them conscious.  The Other Box expertly facilitated a lively, honest and impactful discussion with a diverse group of participants. They created a safe space for open dialogue and learning during this highly interactive workshop.

A massive thank you to The Other Box for providing such an engaging and thought-provoking session. The response from the attendees was overwhelmingly positive and it definitely left people with lots to think about! All of the activities really challenged us on the way we think and how we should start questioning many of the things that we see/hear/do that may be culturally or socially offensive but often go unnoticed.

Working with Leyya and Roshni and taking part in the Know Your Bias modules was a very interesting and thought provoking exercise for us. The Other Box has a unique and progressive style in delivering such important sessions.

We couldn’t recommend a session with The Other Box more. Leyya and Roshni were brilliant at creating an open and encouraging environment. The session was not only highly informative but also offered practical advice which so effective. The TOB team were warm, engaging and incredibly adept about talking through the plethora of topics covered. Every question was welcomed and answered in a calm and supportive way. An all around fantastic session and a must for any modern company.

It has been an amazing journey of learning with The Other Box. Their Know Your Bias training is a complete evolution of the standard unconscious bias training and instead explores intersectionality, identity and the responsibility we all have to better inform ourselves. The emphasis on ‘intention’ not being enough but rather understanding the impact of how we act and communicate towards one another was a huge insight that really helped our team of D&I Ambassadors to be accountable and think of actions that could challenge this in others. The Other Box were full of knowledge and experience and remained open throughout giving people room to share and be vulnerable when needed. It was a training experience like no other! It was also interactive and made room for different types of learning styles which was important for everyone to be able to engage. Amazing session and look forward to working with The Other Box again in the future!!

It was fantastic to have the Know Your Bias workshop as part of our education programme this year. We were blown away by the discussions and levels of honesty that come from the group that Roshni and Leyya wonderfully facilitated. Their delivery creates a safe space amongst a group for them to feel free to be open and expressive, which in turns helps them to understand their unconscious biases and how they can go about making them conscious. Valuable, challenging and memorable. We hope work with them again in the future.
Oh This Way

This was such a great workshop! Everyone should be aware of their unconscious bias and be aware of how we talk to people. The Know Your Bias is an incredible 90-minute journey where we create a safe space to explore bias and turn the unconscious to the conscious. Becoming aware of our biases can lead to changing behaviour, which ultimately can make our industry more collaborative, inclusive, and competitive.

Working on unconscious bias with The Other Box was one of the most eye-opening workshops I’ve ever done. It’s made us think differently about how we treat people, see people and relate to people. We highly recommend it to any organisation and especially industry leaders.
Good Agency

A raised glass to The Other Box for bringing this unconscious bias workshop to the lives of myself and others. I’ve never been given a space where discussing work insecurities has been encouraged and accepted, and it felt good to be challenged, sharing thoughts and opinions on the overlooked issues that matter THE MOST. Important and necessary for your life learning.

It was eye-opening to learn how asking a seemingly innocent question to another person can be interpreted in a demeaning context. The workshop massively raised awareness of how we can push our workplace to be a truly welcoming and inclusive environment for each and every person.

The workshop’s energy was great all the way through - with healthy mix of varied activities. The greatest thing from my perspective was the insights to the different perspectives from the attendees. I think it definitely made me more considerate of a few things that our business can do better - in fact we have already discussed implementing these internally.

I attended the ‘Know Your Bias’ workshop last week and had my assumptions challenged, my beliefs unpicked and time to think about things I had not previously interrogated in my mind. Much welcomed food for thought. The trainers were great in making the session a safe space to ponder and discuss things we don’t usually, but ought to if we want to change how we work to be more inclusive.

We were blown away by the Know Your Bias workshop. It was such a powerful and eye opening session. The workshop allowed us to challenge our unconscious biases, whilst creating an open, safe space for discussion amongst participants which was highly valuable. We think every company should take part in this training to challenge assumptions, recognise biases, and create a culture for inclusion. We were able to apply what we had learnt straight away to our workplace. We cannot recommend the workshop enough!
