This week’s #TOBcommunity spotlight is on Navi Ahluwalia (She/Her), who is the Assistant Editor at POPSUGAR UK and Co-Founder of Platform LDN. With all of her work, Navi makes sure she uses her platforms to shine a light on the South Asian community.

What organisation(s) do you run or work for?

Assistant Editor at POPSUGAR UK

Co-Founder of Platform LDN

How do you / your organisation support and celebrate marginalised people?

I use my platform at POPSUGAR UK to tell the stories that matter, bringing the representation of South Asian talent to the forefront of my work. I aim to address and spotlight important issues in my community, whether it be sharing information on the farmer’s protests in India, collating resources for donations to help with the rising COVID cases, or highlighting the ways that we can address the lack of representation in the creative industries.

Platform LDN helps young creatives of colour by providing access to industry leaders, opportunities and work experience.

What can we expect from you in the coming months?

An interview with South Asian Therapists that highlights the importance of seeking support for your mental health, specifically in the South Asian community, and an exciting interview with Diet Paratha about our collective power. I’m also in the process of launching my own platform for young South Asian women in the creative industry, so watch this space!

What’s your secret superpower?

I remember the tiniest details about people, no matter how long ago we met or how short a conversation was, I rarely forget the things that people have told me!

Favourite quote that sums up your philosophy on life:

“This too shall pass”

Describe yourself in 3 words:

Ambitious, receptive, proactive
