#TOBcommunity Spotlight: Beatrice Ngalula Kabutakapua

Beatrice Ngalula Kabutakapua THE OTHER BOX COMMUNITY

This week’s #TOBcommunity spotlight is on Beatrice Ngalula Kabutakapua (Pronouns: She/Her), a storytelling coach. Read on learn more about the important work they do, and how they could support you too.

What organisation(s) do you run or work for?

I have my own business under my name. I guide serial entrepreneurs, early-stage entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurs-to-be into telling their stories to find their voice, define their brand and create authentic connections with their audience

How do you / your organisation support and celebrate marginalised people?

My work is all about supporting what Arlan Hamilton calls "underestimated people" telling their stories. And that's because if we don't hold the microphone and tell our stories, the story will always be told by the same people. In particular, my work is about helping black women entrepreneurs incorporate storytelling into their businesses. The process we go through together takes three steps at least and it involves knowing your story, acknowledging it and then sharing it.

What can we expect from you in the coming months?

There are two things I'm working on at the moment: the first one is my yet unpublished book about how we should embrace our experiences and use them as fuel to take action. The second thing I'm working on is an extended group coaching program for women of colour entrepreneurs that will also function as a support group to heal and take action. It will start as a trial in September.

What’s your secret superpower?

I read the world in solutions, whenever people explain me a situation I already see different possible solutions which is something that gets my brain on fire but it's really amazing.

Favourite quote that sums up your philosophy on life:

"Each of us inhabitants of this world is other for someone else, I am for you, you are for me" Ryszard Kapuscinski

Describe yourself in 3 words:

Determined, passionate, introverted
