Hustle & Kids: juggling a life with kids in it

  • Havas KX 3 Pancras Square London N1C 4AG United Kingdom (map)

Parenting or caring for kids of any age comes with its demands. Add to that the many demands of plain old adulting, such as work, friendships, bills, life, and there are quickly many plates to be spinning. The Other Box and The Montessori Studio have partered to put on a panel discussion to share the ups and downs of having a life with kids (whether your own or caring for others') in the 21st Century.

We'll cover topics like community, impact of family and friends (or lack of), availability of childcare (or lack of), the impact of all this on kids today, and ultimately how we can support each other, no matter what our own situations.

The panel features experts for 3 different age-groups: 0-6; 6-11 and pre-teen to teenage. There'll be plenty of time for a Q&A and chance to meet other people on their own journeys of parenthood or caring for kids.

11.30am - 12pm: Guests arrive
12pm - 12.45pm: Panel discussion
12.45 - 1.15pm: Q&A
1.15 - 2pm: Chat and mingle

All are welcome, and we especially welcome carers, parents of colour, same-sex parents, trans-parents or parents of trans-kids, single parents, parents with disabilities, parents of kids with disabilities, blended families, people trying to conceive, parents-to-be, and anyone who feels their story is left out of the mainstream parenthood narrative.

The venue is family-friendly in case you need or want to bring kids.

Tickets available here.

More about The Montessori Studio

The Montessori Studio was founded by Zainab Shamis-Saleem who started adult life as a designer and in 2011 decided to train to become a Montessori Directoress with MCI. She set up The Montessori Studio to allow Montessori to become more accessible and demystify some of the ‘elitist’ stereotypes of this way of learning, particularly to those for whom looking after young children feels like a whole new world. 8 years and two of her own children later, she has gone from nursery settings to homeschooling to teaching parents and carers how to implement the Montessori approach in their own homes.

They work strategically with global companies on diversity and inclusion through training and workshops, with brands on partnerships and campaigns, and they support a community of nearly 3,000 creatives as well as TOB:Parenthood for parents and carers whose stories are not represented in the mainstream narrative.
