Skinnydip x The Other Box #SkinnydipSisterhood: Creativity Talks
On the week of International Women’s Day, we are collaborating with Skinnydip London to highlight and celebrate womanhood, creativity, and diversity.
The Other Box was co-founded by two, brown South Asian girls from working class backgrounds looking for representation and role models in the creative industries. It is now an award-winning initiative, heralded for its work in raising awareness for minorities and celebrating people of colour in the creative world.
Skinnydip is a London based brand creating effortlessly cool accessories for the stylish souls around the world. As well as creating unique, playful and trend driven products, Skinnydip strive to raise awareness for causes close to them. Last year saw the launch of HATESUCKS, working with Stonewall to raise awareness and money for a fantastic cause. 2018 is a new year, with bigger plans, starting with the #SkinnydipSisterhood collaboration with The Other Box.
Speakers Chidera Eggerue, Authenticallyella, Mariel No and Jade Laurice will discuss topics with The Other Box founders Roshni and Leyya as well as answering questions.
Hosted at the Skinnydip London head office, join us for food, drinks and truly inspiring conversation leaving you feeling ready to take on the world! Tickets are free, but will be first come first serve, so make sure you head down on time to grab a seat!
The SlumFlower: Referred to by Elle magazine as a 'millennial mastermind’, Chidera Eggerue is an award-winning blogger, a writer and a speaker featured on BBC Women’s Hour and working with the MOBO Awards, Radio 1, and TED Talks. Chidera is constantly driving conversations to do with body positivity especially through the internet-breaking movement she created called #SAGGYBOOBSMATTER.
Authentically Ella: Ella is a Civil/Tunnel Engineer. She uses her lifestyle & beauty blogging platform to actively encourage young women to pursue engineering careers in the construction industry as well as continuing with their personal hobbies.
Mariel No: Mariel is a regular contributor to gal-dem magazine, which launched in September 2015. A creative collective written by over 70 women and non-binary people of colour, aiming to raise awareness and discuss topics that are diverse and for women of all walks of life. Mariel is the arts and culture editor, and also a fabulous illustrator and embroiderer.
Jade Laurice: Jade is an established model, fashion designer and blogger, and has shot campaigns for brands such as Missguided, Ann Summers and Sleek Makeup. She is a diverse aesthetic representing female empowerment and individuality, breaking all the barriers in the fashion and beauty industry.
